As much of a struggle as this decision turned out to be, I picked Loki for John because his humor is a really outstanding part of his personality. Humorous lines and picking horrible times to renact movie scenes really stood out to me. Even in Act 6 he continues trying to use his humor to justify an awful situation, example being Davesprite's "ghost butt".

Power; Telepathy

Personality;

Boring is what some would try to call John. It starts all the way back into Act One of Homestuck. The first page with John looking about his room, you have to question if you even want to read this comic, because wow it looks very boring by the look of just page one. But I urge you to keep going, click the next page button.

We are introduced to a normal teenaged boy, John Egbert. He has a variety of interest such as magic , pranking, Nic Cage movies, and even amateur computer programming. It is arguable that out of his three really good internet friends that he has lived a really easy life. He has his Dad after all, and all the time in the world to think about mundane things such as squawking about like an imbecile and taking a fresh steamy crap on his desk! He should be what is every dimension of the word boring still at this point.

That is until you dive a little deeper into his personality!

He likes to think he’s pretty clever and funny. Pulling a prank every now and again, going above and beyond sometimes to up his prankster’s gambit. Absolutely no one is safe from his pranks and absolutely no one will be intentionally harmed by them. John is not that kind of person, he doesn’t want to hurt anyone. He is a self-proclaimed Pranking Prince, and that is just that. He has this dumb tendency to act out his favorite movie scenes at the most inappropriate of times but that is also just John being John. This is nothing terribly strange to him in any way.

John is the kind of guy who gives zero fucks at what people think about him. You could make fun of him. That’s cool, he’s not going to go crying to his daddy about it. He’s got a tough skin, and if you set out to make fun of the things he likes then it really doesn’t matter to him. No skin off of his back. If he seriously feels offended however, he will argue back with no reserve on how offensive he can be. Though he’d rather not lose a friend to a seriously dumb argument, can’t they just fix this over a humorous talk or something. Maybe they can hug and make up after a while.

The good will always outshine the bad in a person to him. He just doesn’t like to see people in a negative light. Everything bad ever committed is forgivable and redeemable to John. Which is what gets him in a lot of trouble in regards to believing anything people say.

While he likes to play pranks of his own, he can be very gullible and believe just about anything someone tells him. Hey bro, just take a sweet nap on that bed there. No troubles. The final boss is out there waiting for him, give him the rocket pack and he’s ready to go. No questions asked. He just does it. He’ll even forgive you if you happen to be the one to tell him to do these things. He’s just that kind of person.

But do not mistake the fact that John also has a huge degree of rude and undesirable traits to him. Like the fact that sometimes he has no tact at all what so ever. For example, when he and Jade are discussing her ears he states that he does like them, but they clearly don’t make her look like some weird furry who go out and have sex on the internet in their imagination. Nope. Jade was clearly appalled by the thought of this! A good example of him just being a flat out douchebag is when he and Jade are on year two of their flight and he learns that Jade and Davesprite have broken up. Even though it was intended to not be as rude as it was; John went as far as basically asking how Jade would work out sexual relations with Davesprite, and how would her future even go with him? He said some pretty blunt things to Jade, and it was apparent that she was trying as much as John would allow her to defend Davesprite.

This leads to the fact that it really isn’t all that hard to piss John off. He gets really riled up over the dumbest things, like why Jade couldn’t make the ship go any faster. He really gets his intense levels of douchebaggery when he gets too angry, and that leads to things like him being spazzy and flailing around or throwing a harsh name at the offending person or thing.

It is these traits that define John, and make him who he is. He isn’t someone who can be explained in such words as “derpy” or “stupid”, there is always a lot more to him than that. It is these things that lead his friends to make him the leader of their Sburb group, and John is modest and denies such a title. Instead he prefers his friends come first, and his leadership to come second in line- making him none other than the friendleader of the Sburb group. The game is what really allows someone to see what potential as a character John really has. It allows you a glimpse into his more serious side, when it is time to fight, it is time to fight and do nothing more than that until all of his friends are safe. It’s the game that enables John to grow as a person even he is going through a lot with loss of his father and having a minor temper tantrum every now and again, it’s normal to be a cranky teenager when you are given a chance to be.

John has essentially been forced into a situation where he is forced to grow up, and he still manages to keep his quick humor and his rude comebacks. Essentially give this kid the power of a god, and mix his personality into it and you have everything that makes John Egbert who he is currently.

[Upon waking up in a strange place, John's first instinct is to take a look around. A bracelet, a note, and a whole pile of confusion are things trying to find a way to sort themselves out in his brain right now. Once he's fiddled around with the bracelet enough he decides it's time to show his face to the poeple.

John doesn't have to fumble about too much until he has found a suitable way to broadcast himself to the video feed. Though he looks a little disoriented and confused. He had just passed way the hell out in his driveway back where he came from.

So waking up here is kind of a surprise.

So does anyone have any sweet details on this place? I mean I got the letter and what not, but what does this actually mean? The bracelet was also a pretty awesome gift, so thanks for whoever did that.

When John finally comes to again, he is briefly reminded of the feeling of his ascension to god tier. But this time he reawakens in a place he himself would have never imagined in his entire life. The room itself was something akin to a towering castle in the lands of Skaia, except a lot more grey-scale than he remembered from before. He tries to move, and his body refuses it. But this is no time to panic, is it? He didn't feel as if he had been run through again, so being dead was not a likely possibility unless this very room was heaven, and the circle he was laying in was where he was to await the judgement.

Where was he before this? That was simple to remember at least. He had been throwing a temper tantrum over the realization that Dave Sprite had mistreated Jade. He had gotten unnecessarily worked up over it and even sat down on his driveway to yell at a non-existent image of him in the sky. The only way he could have gotten into this room without actually being dead is that this is still the game, and blacking out in the driveway was some kind of gateway to the next stage.

"Is anyone here? This is really starting to get mildly uncomfortable." He says this after about twenty minutes, and it is hard to tell if John was being serious or joking. The room was cold, and the dead weight in his limbs was beginning to get more and more unpleasant by the minute. "I mean you could leave me here all day if you really wanted, it's not like a guy needs to avoid being killed or anything." He knows he is vulnerable like this, and if Jack Noir were to spring on him at this very moment there was nothing he could do. He just doesn't want to accept defeat.

The door opens, and it's then he realizes his eyes haven't quite focused on anywhere else in the room. He blinks a ferociously a few times, trying to focus in on the woman who is crossing the room. No such luck, but the weight seems to have lifted. "Asgard? Telepathy? You have to be kidding me. I'm the guy who plays the pranks around here, and this one just isn't all that funny, pal." She doesn't seem as if she is jesting as she continues to explain. He doesn't get a chance to even try and speak with her again as she exits the room.

"Different game, almost the same rules." He says as he finally sits up. "Watch out Asgard, John Egbert is in town, and hell if it isn't being painted blue." He cracks a smile, and begins the new journey he was given. But not without leaving a little surprise strung out in the doorway for the next weary traveler, he was sure they would learn to appreciate the good old string across the doorway trick someday.
