Sonata for Two Pianos.

["We're going to have you do a recital with another student on campus, very talented, just as talented as you. He's different but we know you'll work together just fine." Said your private piano teacher. You knew who he was, and what he was all about. You two were practically the most often praised musicians on campus. But you had never spoken with him, or given him the time of day. You were always holed up in your practice room before you went home to perform your songs for Dad, who lived close to campus to make sure you were doing your work. You're sure you're way over your amount of practice hours for the semester- what could one recital hurt?

So you agree. You, John Egbert, are going to perform a recital with another pianist you've never met face to face with until now. A first year student at that, as if you have so much seniority over him.

Your fingers rest easy over the keys, you let your fingers do what they've always done. Glide over the ivories to finish off yet another practice session- Chopin was your composer of choice today. Bach was yesterday, perhaps Beethoven tomorrow if you've been good. Your day isn't done, you have to meet him somewhere. You gather your music and clock your time, your instructor said to wait in the practice hall. Your new duet partner would bring the music for you to play today.

So here you stand.]

[John will be kind enough to walk in just so he can help Dave out here. He makes his way to the mattress and kind of tries to lift whatever part of Dave isn't on it.

And take his glasses off of his face and fold them up.]

[Dave is fast asleep. Look at that precious, sleeping face of his.]

[John makes sure to cover him up before gathering his books and turning to leave. But. He really doesn't want Dave to be alone......]

[Watcha gonna do? Dave does have a table and stuff you can sit at. It's not like he can stop John from staying. He's too busy curled up and fast asleep right now.]

[longwinded]

[He'll just sit himself at the table, opening up a textbook to study for tomorrow's test. He'll just stay here.]

[It's a few hours later that Dave kind of shuffles back into the kitchen, rubbing his eyes and half asleep.]

[longwinded]

[John fell asleep at the kitchen table, so good luck with that one.]

[Dave glances at him and just shuffles to the fridge and pulls out the chicken he bought. Guess he'll have company for dinner tonight. He's just gonna start making food while John is passed out at his table.]

[longwinded]

[It'll take a bit for him to wake up, what really does it is the shuffling and the smell of food wafting through the air. God. He didn't know he was so hungry...]

Sleep well?

[Dave shrugs in response. Sleep is sleep.

He's making soup. Hopefully you like chicken soup. It has potatoes and carrots and rice in it. Cheap but good and hearty.]

[longwinded]

[John is pretty down with a hearty meal like that. He starts cleaning up around him where he was doing homework and joins Dave at the stove.]

[Dave is just chopping vegetables and dropping them into the pot so he can cook them before adding water.]

[longwinded]

Do you need any help?

[He's....an okay cook. He can probably chop and dice and maybe season.]

[knightime]

[Dave shakes his head. It would be too hard to get things done while telling John what to do. Also he rather not try and sign while waving a knife around.]

[longwinded]

[Well, okay. He won't help then. He'll just go rummaging through the cabinets for bowls and stuff to set on the table. He's gonna be a nerd and set it for Dave, YEAH.]

[knightime]

[It isn't long before Dave brings a large bowl over with some hearty, chicken soup. He places the bowl on the table and rummages through his fridge for some apple juice. John can raid it if he wants a drink. It's too much effort to ask when John can get up and do it himself. He doesn't seem against rummaging through his cabinets anyways.]

[longwinded]

[He rummage until he finds a glass and then fills it with water. No big deal right? He sits down at the table and begins eating at the soup. He's...surprised it actually tastes really good.]

Tastes great.

[knightime]

[Dave is eating quietly. Well. What is he supposed to do. He can't talk. But he nods, taking the compliment.]

[longwinded]

[John is as well.]

You should let me make dessert some time.

[knightime]

[Dave looks up and tilts his head in a curious manner.

Oh?]

[longwinded]

I can make all sorts of stuff, just write down what you like.

[FEEL FREE TO SWOON.]

[Dave looks kind of confused at this point. It's not like Bro really was into that. And Dave didn't really buy a lot of it. He's surprisingly healthy. Although he does love himself some cheetos once in awhile.</small]

[longwinded]

Next time, then. You look kind of starry-eyed over there. I know it's probably a shock or something, having someone want to cook things like that for you. I'll bring stuff over.

[And nab recipes from Dad!]

[He hopes you can hear the eyeroll he made behind his shades as he goes back to eating. Don't flatter yourself, John. You little shit.]
