It kind of tastes like fruit? Weird fruit. I don't think it tastes bad.

[OKAY JOHN. BE A MAN. He kind of...just goes for it. Taking a nice big sip. The glass is set on the nearest dresser. Dear jesus. He is unsure right now.]

It burns, how is that even an okay thing?

[ Jade opens her mouth to encourage him, to let him know it's alright--

And instead, she just sort of giggles. ]

Wiiimp.

[longwinded]

[No she did not just call him a wimp. He picks up the glass, downing the rest of it.

HE SURE SHOWED JADE.]

No I'm not! It's so delicious, it burns far too good.

John, you're not supposed to gulp it like that!

[ She's laughing again. ]

You're supposed to saaaavor it!

[longwinded]

Well, then give me another half of a glass, and maybe I'll do it right.

[He's entertained. Laughing. Everything seemed okay for right now.]

Savoring it sounds hard.

[ And she, for now, indulges him with a little less than half a glass. She pats the seat next to her on the bed, though. ]

[He sips slowly this time. Getting some of the wine on his tongue and leaving it to set there a moment before swallowing. It was strange this time since he actually tasted it. It was sweet, and bitter? He guesses he can see why Jade was drinking this stuff.

Though he felt really warm. It wasn't feasible that he was tipsy, or even drunk in the slightest. Just...warm. He takes another sip and savors it the same way.]

Okay, it's not so bad.

[ She is tipsy- maybe a little more than so, but it's good to not be dead anymore, good that the war is, at least, on pause. And privately, she's glad that they haven't gone home yet. Jade likes Asgard, more than she wants to admit.

She crawls up to sit next to him, leaning heavily into his side. ]

I missed you when you weren't here, you know. Joooohn you kind of drive me nuts sometimes but you have to always be in Asgard when I am, it's not fair otherwise.

[longwinded]

[John just feels fuzzy right now, relaxed. The war is paused, and he is here now with his family. He shifts around to accommodate her, and put his arms around her.

He's so glad she's alive.]

You worry the hell out of me sometimes. [The next part makes him raise his brow and bring her closer.]

I promise I won't leave you. I'll be here for a long time, and when we leave- we'll leave together.

[nukeoleptic]

[ The simple warmth of human contact is still soothing beyond belief to her, even after the years on the ship with him and Davesprite. She laughs a little at his words, though, getting comfortable, her eyelids heavy even if she has zero plans of sleeping. ]

Shhh, shut up, you can't promise that. Whatever happens happens.

[longwinded]

I can promise whatever I want.

[He's tired, mentally and physically. He seems to be in a snuggling mood, so this is what he's doing.]

I'm sorry I get overprotective of you.

Mostly I don't mind. I just don't understand!

[ She is more than alright with his snuggling mood, apparently-- she is cuddling right back, burrowing into his side. ]

I'm older than you! And I've never not been able to take care of myself.

[longwinded]

[He won't even mention Dave sprite. Just, gonna cuddle the shit out of her and be the most affectionate brother.]

I didn't want to see you get your feelings hurt. That was all.

[nukeoleptic]

[ She knows exactly what he's talking about, though, and she exhales a little puff of air. ]

Bluuhh. Talk about a prime example of why not to fall in love with a dude you're trapped on a ship for..... forever.

[ So she's a little more prone to exaggeration while mildly drunk. ]

[longwinded]

[He takes to petting her hair. He hates to keep bringing it up.]

I just wanted you to be happy, and I didn't want you to be getting your feelings in a twist. SO even on the ship I was between saying something and just keeping my mouth shut.

Nanna and I had long conversations about this. While she baked cookies.

Your nanna was always baking cookies.

[ It's hard, sometimes - should she refer to her as her Nanna, too? She considered John her brother, too, but it was weird to try to think of Nanna as her own. ]

And cakes. They were really, really good.. I kinda miss them. And I miss the ship! I just love this place so much, and all my friends here.. it's so good. [ She has her face pushed into his shoulder. ]

[longwinded]

She considered you family too. That is why she shared her cookies and cakes with you. So I guess she was like basically your nanna too.

[John wouldn't mind. They're basically family. Nanna would have accepted Jade as another grandchild. Definitely.]

I didn't like being here at first, but it did get me off of that damn ship. Here with my friends.

I wonder if we'll be able to remember this place. If we win the war, I mean.. I don't want to forget.

[ She's quiet for a second, sighing. ]

-- I want to help some of the others. In other worlds.

[longwinded]

Maybe we will. Maybe we'll take this memory back on the ship with us, ha. If that's even where we end up.

[He rests his chin on her head. Careful not to dig in.]

Maybe if we win, we don't have to strictly go back to the game. Maybe we'll get the chance to see other places. Wouldn't that be cool?

I'd like to finish the game first, I think. Make sure everything's gonna be okay.. and then go see other places.

[ Jade exhales a shaky breath. ]

.. I miss Davesprite. I want to make sure he's going to be okay.

[longwinded]

We have to make sure the ship gets to where it needs to go, right?

[John is there to support her right now. Rubbing her shoulder.]

He'll be okay.

[ She's comfortable, kind of drunk, and grateful that he's there. ]

We'll all be okay. I'm gonna make sure of it.

[longwinded]

[John will be here whenever she needs him. It doesn't matter the time or place. John will be there.]

You can't do it alone. I'll be there to help you.

I want you to meet Jake. I think you'd really like him a lot, John. Honest.
