Thinking back on auditions, John wasn't sure what compelled him to take this Orchestra class. Perhaps he just had it too easy when he tried out. The piece was simple enough and the scales are something he's been doing for nine or so years. Maybe it was the fact that he and Rose are best friends and they really needed a pianist in the Orchestra and John why don't you join Orchestra with Rose.

Whatever happened, he's here now and expects some crotchety old guy to come out and do his old man thing. That's usually what Orchestra directors are save for the few he knows of that are in their mid to late thirties. Years of refined experience and knowledge to the ends of the earth. It would be nothing new, really.

He shuffles through his books, picking the piece out that was written on the board. He was going to run through this while he waited for class to start, and slowly play the measures that have been giving him trouble ever since he received the music.

Rose just gives John the most pleasant smile. She has no regrets, John. You can't get her to regret anything.

Dave just places the groceries on the counter and laughs a bit. "I hope you like steak then because steak is fucking awesome." There's a pause while he pulls out the meat he bought. "Rose didn't say shit to you did she? That's the face of someone who didn't know what to expect." He tips his sunglasses up, red eyes giving Rose a look who just continues to smile that smile she's got.

"I'm not some prop to use to surprise your friends, you know."

Oh she will regret it after he pranks her one good time. Yeah, big threat right here.

John furrows his brow and shoots Rose another look. Wow, she played both of them then. "Yeah you're right, I literally had no idea." Oh man, Dave is cooking them steak, the fastest way to John's heart is his stomach and Dave can cook. He can see this trip to Rose's house being a very difficult one.

"Thanks for having me over." Where were his manners, sheesh.

Oh yes. Because pranks are totally scary when you have passive aggressiveness on your side.

"Naw. You should thank Rose. I only visit here once in awhile. I'm too old to stay living in my parents' basement after all. Seems kind of in ill taste to live here when I can easily afford my own place." He shrugs lightly. "I'm just as much of a guest as you are. I just happen to be covering cooking duty because neither of us want her mom cooking." He surprisingly doesn't refer to her as his own mom though.

Oh, John understands now. He guesses anyways. Dave was cooking because whenever Mom Lalonde cooks it is always the most interesting battle anyone will have with their stomachs later in the night. John has stomached enough of Mom's cooking to know and validate this. John doesn't think he should touch on why Dave doesn't call her his Mom as well. Probably a totally personal thing.

"I could help you cook, if you want." Rose better not be snickering at his offer. He will snap the bow to her violin in half.

Do you really want to deal with Rose's rebuttal John? Do you?

"Naw. I can get by fine. You and your she devil of a friend just had your first day of school. You both should be lying on the ground complaining about how your life is ending and how terrible school is or something. Or at least I imagine you might do that. I don't know what's wrong with this one." He jabs his finger towards Rose who just rolls her eyes. He moves to start cooking. "I think you wouldn't be able to handle being in the kitchen with me while I'm cooking anyways."

No, he really didn't want to deal with Rose's rebuttal. But he would take his chances anyways.

John ate dinner at the Lalonde's that night and many more a night. Well, every time Dave was over anyways. He almost felt like he was a little bit obvious to Dave when he seemed to only show up whenever he came around. But it was cool, they were cool.

John's patience was iron as well. He was definitely trying to will this crush away for some time. Each time Dave seeming to do something to renew it something fierce. First it was the cooking. Every time John came over for dinner, Dave would cook like one of those fucking iron chefs from the Food Network. The second was when he started walking around the house in states of undress. Like. Who the hell even does that? Dave does apparently. This is when John starts suspecting Dave might know something- and he did back off for a little while!

But he does it again in Orchestra. The way his strong arms conduct. It's like Dave isn't even giving John a chance to will his feelings away. It's developing from a tiny crush to a legit crush. They started talking more in and out of school and it was really nice. Dave was like an acquaintance to him now. It was cool being tight with your Orchestra director. The fourth strike was probably John's most awkward experience with Dave fucking Strider. After his Physical Education course he runs to have a quick shower so he doesn't you know, stink or something and there he fucking was. In the shower. Buck naked and singing what was that? Hugh Laurie? Nevermind that John was still stunned that Hugh Laurie could sing, he was actually more stunned that Dave sounded so similar to him. John has officially seen his Orchestra director in all of his tattooed glory and he isn't sure whether to run or not. It's here that he decides that he needs to either get it on with Dave or just transfer schools at this point. But he wouldn't do that, he is kind of a vital point of the Orchestra.

He didn't run by the way and he actually manned up and just took a shower. Trying to avoid some weird naked conversation with Dave.

Everything seemed pretty chill up until the day of their big first concert, their debut of what the Orchestra had been working on so hard. They had all put in extra practices and long hours of self discipline and tonight was the night to show it off. There was extra scrambling that day and everyone was still getting dressed at fifteen minutes till show time. Dave gave one of those motivational speeches and John wonders if it's terrible that he's paying more attention to the fact that Dave's suit looks really nice on him and he would ravish him in it if he could.

Maybe he'll finally give in tonight. Stay after the concert.

The concert itself went extremely well. The songs were well received and they got a ton of claps and hollars for an encore. But fear not concert goers. Their next concert is the following month. John and Rose need their fingers!

Now it was clean up time, and everyone seemed to be restless and ready to go out for after concert activities. Let them go Mister Strider. Let them go!

He's sure all the students were pretty nervous. Dave has done plenty enough concert that what makes him jittery isn't nerves from worry or those kind of feelings. It's from excitement. Everytime he's on the stage. Everytime he's out there in front of people makes his blood run. It's odd that despite that, he forgets all about it. The only thing he pays attention to is what he's doing and the beautiful music that's produced. That's all you should really be aware of, he thinks.

He can tell how restless the students are after though. "Alright. I'm gonna play nice. You guys are good. Everything should be all here, so I can do last check on my own. Get out of here. You kids did good." Dave just shoos them out so they can go home. He won't be as nice in the future performances, but they really did deserve a break after this first one. The first one is always the hardest, and he knows that.

He just picks up the clipboard so he can go over things. He assumes everyone has left like he told them to, so he doesn't really pay attention if there are any stragglers, instead getting to work to finish up. He would like to get home himself. Pretty sure he'll just take a shower in the morning. He doesn't really have the energy to go home and take a shower.

Dave just hums a bit as he looks over all the equipment, back turned.

John had been part of transporting the piano back to the room, so he and a couple of other students were part of rolling it back to its resting place in the Orchestra room and even after they cleared out- he hadn't. Nope. He had other things in mind tonight and they would be fulfilled. Er, if Dave didn't stop him or something.

His hands are nearly trembling as he locks the door and if he can't tell if it's nerves or just plain being excited over what could happen. What to say? should he even say anything? Should he just go for it? One can never really tell. But in order to break the silence. He coughs.

"Um, Dave?" Yeah okay, gonna approach this carefully.

Dave jolts a bit. He's surprised that someone's still here and turns around to face John. He let's out a relaxed chuckle. "What? I can't honestly believe you actually want to stick around and help. What's up? I assure you I can take care of little ol' me on my own. You don't have to worry 'bout me." Dave's tone is playful. He also thinks that isn't actually why John is still here.

Honestly, he isn't exactly sure why John is sticking around at all. Maybe the kid needed something?

He is actually pretty fucking glad that Dave didnt hear the door lock, that would have probably been his doom. He kind of shrugs, letting a grin overtake his lips as he approached Dave. "I don't know, I felt like maybe even if you didnt want the help or anything I could definitely keep you company here while you took inventory." But no, Dave actually wasnt going to finish inventory.

For once he's glad that Rose went out with a bunch of her girly violin friends, because the long list of unholy things he's about to do to her relative is stunningly dirty. If Dave would allow it of course. "You did pretty sweet tonight, you're a real stage presence you know." John is just in the right vicinity right now.

He abandons all common sense and grabs Dave's tie, pulling him towards himself to connect their lips. When he pulls away it's actually really nonchalant. "And you look really good in this suit."

Dave highly doubts John wants to just sit around and watch him do inventory. That seems like the exact opposite of what a teenager wants to do when he can go out partying or anything that isn't being on school campus.

"I've hardly got presence when you guys take the show." It's for them, not him. He can't take credit for how good they've gotten.

He means to speak again, but the kiss catches him off guard and he's left rather stunned at how smooth that all was and how easy it was for John to do that to him. Stunned enough that he's actually rather speechless. That and his face warming up ever so slightly.

It actually took a lot of balls for John to do that, he had been contemplating it for the better half of the concert when Rose got her showcase piece. He hadn't the time to think about it during his showcase, he was too busy making sure he didnt like fuck up really horribly or something. He gives Dave a once over, not letting go of his tie for anything. There was absolutely nothing stopping him right now, everyone was gone and the door was locked.

"You are blushing so hard right now, uh, sorry if that caught you off guard but you and me both know that you've not been any help to this crush I have on you. Unless you normally roam the house in a constant state of undress."

John pulls him forward again, not connecting their lips just yet. He doesn't want to give Dave time to think about this but he also wants to hear what Dave has to say about this.

"Because I'm always expecting a student of mine to eat face with me while I do inventory. You found me out." Despite his steady voice, he does have the audacity to look marginally flustered though. "What if I told you that's just how I always am when I'm home. I enjoy being in the nude."

Leave it to Dave to not outright giving John a conclusive answer though. Of course not. You don't exactly just easily admit to wanting to have sex with someone as old as John and him being...well much older.

It's not exactly something you just talk about.

"You're so transparent Dave." Though that was said teasingly. Because he actually didn't know if Dave wanted this or not. He rolled his eyes, bringing them together for another brief kiss. "Right, sure." He says as he pulls away. He really just wants Dave to kiss him back- it's all the validation he'll ever need.

While it isn't just something you talk about, John was curious. He wanted to know if Dave had these desires much like he did. John saw absolutely nothing wrong with the way he thought about Dave. Age wasn't even a factor here.

"I'd get in a lot of trouble if I touched you." Which should explain his feelings pretty clearly without being said literally. Because if anyone has figured out about Dave, other than when he was teaching, Dave never spoke outright about things. He always had someway to say things without having to be blunt about it. It was aggravating most likely, but it was just how he was.

"But no one would have to know. The door is locked." He's not letting Dave go. He won't let Dave go. This is what he was after. It was frustrating that Dave was still trying to dance around actually saying what his feelings were, but at least with what he said it was rather clear.

"It's between you and me, and no one else." He smiles, but it is one of those smiles with a motive behind it.

"And what should I say to my conscious?" Oh man. He isn't sure if he likes that smile or not. He doesn't know what it means so it looks like he'll have to wait until John does something.

"You have to stop thinking. Just go with it. I swear no one but you and I are going to know." He leans again, pressing a chaste kiss to his teacher's lips. "Come on."

Wow, is he trying to get seduced by his student? His high school student? That's a thing that's happening. "I..." Oh god, he's actually kind of tongue-tied. Shit.

His student is definitely putting forth A plus effort to get into his teachers pants, or atleast you know. Get him to kiss back, or show some kind of interest. Look into this baby blues Dave, don't even resist them.

"You, what?"

"Kids your age shouldn't be this good at seducing someone," Dave breathes out. Especially since John was like younger than half his age and suddenly this kid has him practically cornered and being too damn convincing.

"What can I say? Kids my age are getting good at all kinds of stuff they shouldn't be." He's still pretty close, with a very sturdy grip on his teacher. "Dave. You can't tell me you don't want this right now. If you told me you didn't- you would be lying."

"What if I didn't want this?" His voice is shaky though. He knows that they hold no weight at this point. Not when he hasn't actually tried to remove John from him. He was just stalling at this point.

"Wouldn't you have stopped me already?" He makes a valid point, right? Now he just has to convince Dave to stop stalling. It's not like there are cameras in here.

"You really know how to corner a guy, don't you." Considering the current situation. He doesn't really have anything else he can say. He can't refute that statement. "I guess I would have."
