Prince and his Knight.

As a young Prince, John was granted to have one Knight around him at all times. The top of the newest class, the strongest in the Kingdom. That was what John wanted, and he would have no less. That was how he met Dave, a stunning young man who....didn't say very much, but was certainly worthy of fighting by his Lord's side. The age difference wasn't too stunning. John a mere seventeen and Dave in his mid twenties, it wasn't long before they became friends. It wasn't like this was a shocker to John, he and Dave had many things in common and sometimes the line between being a Lord and a Knight and just being two regular best friends was extremely blurred.

"Dave!" John calls out to his Knight. It seems that something is deeply troubling him.

It's the start of a new chapter in young John's life. Rumors of him being married off to the Princess in the neighboring Kingdom were running high and it was something that was giving him quite a hard time. It was his loyal Knight Dave that got most of the whining about this. He was a quiet and patient fellow, one that would actually listen to him when he needed to speak.

He doesn't even wait for Dave to acknowledge that he's been called. "We are going out for a little while, could you prepare the horses?" Which usually meant a conversation in the woods was about to happen. John needed to blow off steam.

Dave doesn't wrap his arms around John. He doesn't push John away either. He just continues to rub at his eyes.

John's an idiot. He doesn't need to ask for forgiveness because he'll always forgive John. Even if the other asks. But now this situation is awkward because he's crying and upset and John is trying to comfort him.

[longwinded]

"Dave, its okay. You know I say things sometimes and fail to think about it." He was just worried, that Dave was denying what he wanted deep down. John raises a hand, wiping tears away from those pretty eyes.

"I am sorry. Truly."

Dave would continue to deny himself thing he wants. He feels like he should be happy with what he already has. He was far off growing up. He was content with the life he had.

He shakes his head. He doesn't want John to apologize to him.

[longwinded]

John tilts his head a little, Dave didn't want him to apologize? But why not? Why couldn't John own up to his mistakes and treat Dave like he should be treated. It's horrible knowing that he can't even do that.

"Dave."

Dave stays kind of stock still. He doesn't know what John is gonna say next. Should he be nervous? Will it be a request? Will he be reprimanded?

[longwinded]

"Please, let me own up to the wrongdoings I have committed. I know that you wish for me not to apologize, but I wish to apologize. I came off really strong and did not treat you correctly. It is true, there are many things I want from you but I can't just expect for you to always give me what I want."

John was pretty nervous saying all of that. He wanted Dave so bad.

Dave shuffles from foot to foot nervously. It's kind of weird to have someone higher than him actually apologize for something they done. He knows John cares a lot for him, but it's still weird.

He bows his head, not looking at John. The voice that comes out is nervous and quiet. "It's fine."

[longwinded]

Of course it was going to be weird, the higher up shouldn't be apologizing. That is how it worked in this day and age. But John liked to think he was different, that perhaps he was no better than anyone else.

John tilts his head, mostly out of shock. "Pardon..?"

Dave doesn't say anything. Keeping his mouth firmly shut. You really think he's gonna have it in him to repeat himself?

[longwinded]

"You have a nice voice, at any rate." Look Dave, he's gonna hold your hand right now goddammit. He is so proud. Dave said something. "You should talk more often around me, okay? Do not let our statuses within the castle stop you from talking to me."

Dave just shakes his head. He's pretty red in the face. It's not even the status thing. Dave just has a problem and it's talking to people.

[longwinded]

He doesn't understand. He's an idiot. A huge idiot who needs to understand that this is going to take time.

"Dave, you're blushing."

Dave kind of tries to make a motion whether he can be dismissed yet. You're going to kill him, John. You are embarrassing him so much. God, be a little more merciful.

[longwinded]

There is no mercy. Prince John is the least merciful. John doesn't really wish to dismiss him so, nope. He's just gonna spend the night out on his balcony looking up at the clear sky.

Oh. Ok. Well, then. That just means that Dave will just continue to stand there awkwardly. He is so awkward. Thank you, John. You sure know how to give a guy a break.

[longwinded]

That was just in jest, he's not actually going to do that. He gets up, heading back inside of his room.

"Dave, please meet with me in the afternoon tomorrow. We have business to attend to." He stands right where he is, bowing to Dave in show of his gratitude. It wasn't something he would normally do. But. To keep the air calm right now he does it anyways.

Who knows what this 'business' is.

Dave gives a curt nod. He would be there, but that doesn't mean Dave isn't going to be nervous as to what this business will be.
