Prince and his Knight.

As a young Prince, John was granted to have one Knight around him at all times. The top of the newest class, the strongest in the Kingdom. That was what John wanted, and he would have no less. That was how he met Dave, a stunning young man who....didn't say very much, but was certainly worthy of fighting by his Lord's side. The age difference wasn't too stunning. John a mere seventeen and Dave in his mid twenties, it wasn't long before they became friends. It wasn't like this was a shocker to John, he and Dave had many things in common and sometimes the line between being a Lord and a Knight and just being two regular best friends was extremely blurred.

"Dave!" John calls out to his Knight. It seems that something is deeply troubling him.

It's the start of a new chapter in young John's life. Rumors of him being married off to the Princess in the neighboring Kingdom were running high and it was something that was giving him quite a hard time. It was his loyal Knight Dave that got most of the whining about this. He was a quiet and patient fellow, one that would actually listen to him when he needed to speak.

He doesn't even wait for Dave to acknowledge that he's been called. "We are going out for a little while, could you prepare the horses?" Which usually meant a conversation in the woods was about to happen. John needed to blow off steam.

[longwinded]

Just as promised, John will be waiting at the horse stable to meet up with Dave so that they could venture off for the day. He’s by passing his lessons for the day and he’s not going to attend lunch with his mother or father. He has to settle this with Dave once and for all. His feelings were strong and pure, he wishes he could call the honorable. But what was honorable about the fact that he wished to take advantage of his knight? That he wished to leave the kingdom just so he didn’t have to marry the princess in the next castle.

Nothing was honorable about those things.

He strokes his horse’s mane as he waits. He did arrive a little bit early so that he could have some time to think to himself.

He's been partially dreading it. He loves John, but that's a huge reason as to why he's worried. He doesn't know what's going on through John's mind.

He arrives, nonetheless. He would never stand him up. Dave arrives on time. He bows politely at John when he sees him. Lohac winnies a bit when her rider arrives.

He stays quiet, as usual. He never speaks. Speaking is still too hard for him, even if he's done it a little to John now.

[longwinded]

John just smiles, and actually bows back. It's respectful, isn't it? Soon after he's done brushing his horse, he mounts and starts petting it's mane before he rides her out of the stable and readies her for the journey.

Not that it's a long journey.

He waits for Dave to join him at his side.

Dave always takes his time. He really loves his horse and always takes the time so that she knows how much he loves her. He presses his lips to her nose in a kiss before he runs his fingers through her mane. He brushes her before he starts saddling her up.

Sorry, John. Gotta wait. This man is in love with his horse.

[longwinded]

John will wait as long as he needs to. He looks back into the stables and starts to admire Dave again. If he were to be caught in such a state of mind, he isn't even sure what would happen. He could lie his way out of it if anything.

But he doesn't want to think about it.

Dave doesn't seem to notice John watching him. He's too busy giving love and affection to his horse.

But he does finish up and leads her out and towards John.

[longwinded]

"You know, you spoil her like that. But that just means you're making her a good riding companion." John loves his horse as well, but doesn't give him nearly the attention that he should. Seeing Dave's bond with Lohac makes him realize this.

John has to wonder why Dave leads him to realize so many things about himself.

Dave has no friends. His best friend is pretty much his horse. Don't judge him.

But Dave mounts his horse and has her walk next to John. He frowns a bit at John in response to spoiling her, but just pats the side of her neck. If this is spoiling, then he doesn't want to stop.

[longwinded]

Dave and his horse, he isn't scolding him for spoiling her! He just notices that Dave does it more than anyone in the Kingdom. But there isn't anything wrong with it. Not to John.

He heads off away from the Kingdom. He doesn't know how far they're going to go today. But they're going to go far enough away. Though Dave may want to be concerned that they are going into the face of territory that they shouldn't.

It's because his best friend is basically his horse. It's not that Dave is unfriendly. He just seems to be pretty good on his own accord.

Lohac stalls and winnies a bit. She can tell Dave is nervous about how far they're going and responding to it. Dave pats the side of her head, glancing up at John. He looks concerned.
