[It was a centuries old rivalry. As cliche as the entire werewolves versus vampires thing sounds, it's always been a thing. Marked lands and certain territories. John had heard stories as a pup about the rivaling clan, their clan leader mysterious as always. Disappearing for months on end, and coming out only when he absolutely had to.

As John grew he became more curious, venturing on the lines as young adult, and going as far as crossing them when he was almost mature. He wanted to take risks, as next in line to be the Alpha dog he needed to know the lines well. He wanted to know the territories.

It's the dead of winter now as John is exploring, sniffing out where the lines diverge and the territories divide. He's crossed into their ground with full knowledge that he is there. Usually as long as he isn't causing any trouble they don't bother him, but their seem to be a pair of watchful eyes on him tonight as he heads into a moonlit clearing.]

[Dave is being really stubborn for no reason. He doesn't want help. Not from John. John, who's forced himself into his life.]

You're not. But you're also in no position to refuse help. If someone came by and figured out you were hurt like this, they would kill you faster than you could even think about defending.

Don't tell me shit I'm aware of. I've been around the block longer than you have been alive. And then some. There's a reason I'm not dead already.

[And John is assuming that his clan isn't around.] You don't think we don't have ways to conceal ourselves? You don't think those assholes aren't looking for me? They've been trying to find me for decades.

[Dave just sounds tired and exasperated. Can't muster the energy to sound pissed.] I don't need help.

[He gets extra protection then. Fluffy and unmoving protection. He's already shifted back to his wolf form and curled himself back up on the floor of Dave's room.]

You don't need help, but you could need help.

When you're down like this a little extra protection is never a bad thing.

What I need is you to stop breaking my damn window and me getting rest. [Because healing is a slow as hell process when you're starving and can't do anything about it. He'll have to have one of his clan bring something back. He hasn't had blood, much less fresh blood in days.]

[Looks like he fucked up good. But it also looks like he's not moving from the foot of Dave's bed. His tail is wagging just a little.]

Sometimes I entertain the idea that I might be, but I was also worried.

[But nonetheless, he pulls himself back up on the windowsill- looking back down at Dave.] It's not my place to worry, I know. But I couldn't help it.

Im under the impression that you don't have any friends or all your friends are just as annoying as you are.

[Ughh. Just go or he'll bite you or something. Not that he can, but he'd try anyways.] I'm way too old for you to be worrying about me.

[Before he hops out of the window, he looks back. He doesn't really have much to say to whatever Dave had already said. So. He exits the apartment through the window- shifts back into his wolf form and settles for a night on top of Dave's apartment complex.

[While John continues to be a creepy stalker who won't leave him alone, Dave is finally gonna drag himself out of bed. He has to consume something. Even if it's just a shitton of juice and water. His body needs something to work with, and getting blood to him without it being incredibly suspicious is hard to come by.]

[Wow excuse you he is not a creepy stalker. John would say that he is willing, but he isn't. He's been keeping a close watch on the apartment though, and anything suspicious has not been given a chance to get near the place.

He would be okay if he had to fight off another vampire or something, he just wouldn't let anything get to Dave. Is it...strange? Probably. It's probably strange that he feels this way about Dave. Like he wanted nothing more than to protect him.]
