[John met Dave at a fashion shoot two years ago. Kanaya had been holding a fashion show and Dave had agreed to be one of the models in it, this is when John was trying to dabble in photography as the person behind the camera. He found he really had no talent for it at all, instead he graduated with a degree photo processing. So Kanaya had kept him on board after they found a new photographer.

That's when John officially met Dave. Dave was a special kind of guy. No college degree, just a knack for what he loved to do. John had seen some of Dave's work through some hipster tumblr blog. The photos had been obviously raw, no processing- but he had to admit Dave has this special ability to take the PERFECT shot. It makes him jealous that he decided to not pursue the career behind the camera.

But as talented as Dave may be, he's also like any other person John works with. He's kind of picky when it comes to how his photos are processed and while John sometimes gets some of the shots processed how Dave wants them. He doesn't always get it right the first time. Which makes Dave complain and become high maintenance which in return causes John to complain about Dave to Rose. Today he decides to bring three different options. The model was Rose, an absolutely beautiful girl who she knew through Kanaya. Who better to model your clothing line than your girlfriend, right?]

Hey, Dave.

[He walks into the studio with three of her prints, all processed differently. It looks like John has been behind the computer for quite some time being as careful as he could to process them the three different ways he knows Dave likes. He never thought of even trying anything new.

When he approaches Dave he holds them out.] I finished three separate prints, and one of them has to go to Kanaya by tomorrow evening. Which one do you like best?

[Her smirk looks like the most shit eating grin ever to come on her face.] You haven't tried to put the moves on him, so to speak? It's been awhile since you've two known each other. Not even casual night out to drink? John, do you actually possess a spine underneath there?

What, did you know we were together last night?

[Roooooooooooooose you're making his headache worse.] We have drinks at his house. Last night we drank ourselves silly and watched shitty movies. It was actually pretty fantastic. But other than that, no. I haven't actually put any "moves" on him. [Yes air quotes happened.]

Jesus fuck. No fair that those didn't go public. I've never seen him without his douchey sweater on.

[She starts rummaging through her purse.] We know that isn't the same as going out and getting drinks. John, do you plan on being a bachelor for the rest of your life? If you liked him for this long, I highly doubt you're going to ever stop liking him. You've seen more of him than anyone else has. I think you almost contend against me for seeing every side of Dave has to offer.

You're not allowed to photograph the models during classes, so I doubt that there would be any. If there were, that would be highly illegal for a lot of reasons.

That's because he hates the cold. For some reason, he never grew out of his thin skin for winter.

I need to go help Kanaya now. Here. [Rose totally just handed you a bottle of advil. Along...with a condom and lube.]

We're only together a lot because he shows me his freelance photography like every other weekend or when he gets something new. I didn't think it was that big of a deal. God, you're right. I do like him like that and I have no backbone what so ever, I will probably be a bachelor for the rest of my miserable life.

[He is so done with this crush. He really wants to tell Dave everything. He wants Dave to know his secret crush on him.]

Welp, no better time than to open an incognito window right. The shoot didn't start for another few.......he is totally not googling this right now even though he really actually is.]

[Guess who's behind you, all dressed up and looking pretty swag.] And I need you to get my phone from the dressing room, if you could. We're gonna start, but I'd like to have that.

[There's a pause and a smirk.] I guess you'd look up these since there's no nude photos of me around, but seriously. Get my shit from the dressing room and you can jack off to me later.

[longwinded]

[John turned around and his heart skipped a beat. How in the holy hell did Dave get behind him so fucking fast. What the fucking fuck. He is also beet red and closing out that window like right the fuck now.]

I wasn't going to jack off, I was just curious was all. [He is just gonna scurry way the fuck off now and go get what Dave needed. He goes into the empty dressing room and grabs Dave's phone and wallet- something else catches his eye. A contact case with...green contacts in them.

There is no way those are Dave's. But. Hm. John screws the caps on them and takes them anyways.]

Hey Dave? [Baaaaaaack to the shoot room where he left Dave.]

[Dave was just sitting in one of the chairs, twiddling his thumbs. He'd be checking his phone, but John had it currently, so he really couldn't.

He turns to look at John when he calls out to him. He doesn't know better at the moment. He stupidly had forgotten that he just left his contact case opened and laying around.] What's up? Did you not find my crap or something?

[longwinded]

[He comes out of the dressing room, with all of Dave's things. Plus the contact case. Actually he hands Dave the contact case.] I got all of your stuff from the room, but this contact case was there too.

[John kind of looks like he wants to ask for an explanation. But he just...doesn't really ask. He sets the rest of the stuff on a table near Dave.]

[Dave's expression is unchanging, but there's a sudden nervous look to Dave's eyes that wasn't there before. But he was really good at not showing any sign of discomfort otherwise.

Oh, but he already knows what's up. He forgot to close them before he left the room.] I didn't ask you to bring my contact case out.

You could have just left them on the table with everything else. What's up?

[longwinded]

[John doesn't really want to make Dave uncomfortable or cause a scene. He just wants to know because those eyes in the case are the one's he's known. But the eyes he is staring into suit him so much better.]

Your eyes aren't really green, are they?

[Wow hi, John is the master of being a dummy.]

Why would you think that?

[Of course Dave is going to play dumb. It would be stupid for anyone to assume that he wasn't going to try and play dumb first.] This is the only time you've seen me with any color that isn't green.

[longwinded]

[He is reading Dave like a book right now. But he doesn't really want to aggravate the situation any more.] No reason really. Just, those contacts are green, and you just said that was your case.

[Abort abort abort.] Nevermind, curiosity killed the cat.

[Dave means to open his mouth but he's called over. He looks at John before wordlessly getting up and heading over to the set to take photos.

It's going to be reallllll awkward after the shoot ends, isn't it.]

[John retreats behind the computer where he would be doing quick processing on a couple pictures to get the intended message across. He would have at least two preview prints ready.

Yeah, this was already getting awkward, but mainly because John really had no idea what to say. If his eyes were really red, he wouldn't mind? But why did Dave feel the necessity to lie to him?]

[The shoot goes without any problems or hassle, and time must have passed pretty quickly because everyone was packing up and getting ready to leave. Kanaya was telling everyone a job well done and about tomorrow in terms of what she expected while Rose packed up stuff. Dave had already disappeared back to the dressing room.

But if John ventures in, he'll find that Dave hasn't really bothered to get ready to leave. He's just sitting in the chair in front of the mirror silently.]

[John had already handed off the message that he sent the two best prints off to the printer and they should be ready in a bit. John hated to be nosy, he really did. But Dave had disappeared and he wasn't sure whether he should be worried or not.

So he waits about fifteen minutes packing up the rest of the lighting gear and his computer gear. He has to wonder if Dave is okay or something so he just wanders back to where his dressing room is and peeks in. Hm. He's just sitting there.]

Hey man. Everything alright?

[It wasn't like Dave to just stare into a mirror like that.]

[Dave glances at him, bright red eyes locking with John's own. Yeah, he's not really sure what to do about this. It's pretty obvious that those contacts are his and that means he's been fibbing about his eyes the entire time.

He's never put himself in this kind of situation because he was usually pretty good at not having this happen.]

You have my contact case, idiot.

[He could have just worn his sunglasses and be okay, but he also had to eventually get those back. And in the end, it was still his contact case with green contacts in them. There's no real way he can avoid that.]

[longwinded]

[He can see the uncertainty already. John is really unsure of what to say past "well yeah I know". He nods slowly.

Shit happens, Dave. Shit just happened.]

I kinda wonder why you were lying this entire time about your eyes, but that's it Dave. I don't think of you indifferently, er, if that's what you are thinking of.

[John was more confused about the lie than he was the eye color. Score one for priorities.]

Let's get food.

[Dave doesn't bother to quell John's curiosity. If John wants to know why he wears contacts, then he'd show him why. He casually packs up his stuff and gets up.] Come on. There's like a McDonald's just a street away. I'm starving.

[He doesn't really wait and starts heading out. Better hurry up, John. He's gonna leave you behind otherwise.]

Sounds good.

[John won't get left behind, and they could discuss that curiosity at a later date. He couldn't force the other to talk about this, and it was a miracle that Dave even invited him along.]

I locked up the studio already, so no worries there.

Whatever.

[John can probably watch just how people perceive Dave.

For the most part, some people seem too busy with their own lives to really notice them, but there's an obvious mixed reaction. Some people whispering as Dave walks by. If you strain to hear, they're whispering about whether they're really good contacts or not. But the more extreme reaction are actual looks of disgusts.

Dave, however, seemed unmoved and just makes his way to McDonald's.]

[At first John is walking behind Dave. He can see perfectly how people perceive Dave, and he can hear the comments. He wonders why Dave doesn't say anything. He doesn't even flinch.

He gets in stride with Dave to watch Dave. He really is unmoved.]

You really just let them talk like that?

[Mm, John doesn't agree with it.]

[Dave shrugs in response. What was John expecting him? To tell people to knock it off? That would make this trip longer than it has to be and what was he supposed to really do? Change their opinion somehow?]

I can't change how people perceive how I look. You're asking for a miracle, John.

I've dealt with this since forever.

[John has just never witnessed people actually being a dick indirectly to Dave. Dave was the guy in the studio that everyone feared. He wasn't used to seeing this.

John's opinion would never change about Dave.]

But you can't help how you look. That would be like you making fun of some chick on the street for having a big nose, or making fun of me for wearing glasses.

[Dave just heads into the McDonald's and the reaction is probably even worst now that they're inside a building with a more condensed amount of people.]

That's why I wear contacts.
