[Your name is John Egbert, and you have recently joined a gym to get back into shape. You determined that if you were ever going to make yourself look decent to anyone you would have to tone your muscles and and lose your cute little baby pudge.

You have taken a wide interest in a couple of areas around the gym, mainly the cardio workouts, the weights, and the pool. There was something about going to take a swim around eight-thirty in the evening. It was usually just you and the highly attractive lifeguard- you think his name is Dave? But you aren't too sure.

On this particular night you had been thinking far too hard, and hadn't put your glasses back on quite yet before you walked back around the edge of the pool. For some reason you think this was a wonderful idea. A fantastic way to end your night. But that isn't seeming to be the case. On your walk back to the edge you trip over a pool noodle, hit your elbow and side on the edge of the pool and fall in.

The world is kind of black. There isn't much you can do.]

[He smiled, and waved. It was silly how John knew Dave's name and Dave didn't know what his was. It hadn't really dawned on John to even introduce himself.

Though if Dave peeks at the check out screen, he'll see the last guest who checked out. Which was indeed John. Looks like Dave is gonna have to wait till John comes to work out tomorrow.]

[Dave raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything. Whatever. It's not like the other was going to be a regular in terms to talking to him, right? Dave was just a lifeguard. Not some pal who just so happens to be at the same gym while you're there.

But Dave works regularly, so John probably knows his schedule pretty well.</small.]

[John typically came two hours before close, one hour in the gym and one hour in the pool. Tonight he saunters in at the same time he did any other night. Setting his things down and just stepping into the shallow end. He's in favor of keeping his glasses on.

He didn't see Dave around, just the female guard who wasn't paying him much attention. Perhaps at the end he'll swim ten laps. Sounds about fair.]

[Dave was in the locker room. He shoved his stuff in the locker and headed back out to the pool. He needed to stretch a bit, but Dave was gonna swim some laps and loosen up a bit.

There wasn't a lot of people, if any, in the pool, so he was going to take advantage of that to get some swimming in.]

[John feels more like a creep every single time he comes to the pool. He doesn't mean to watch Dave like he does. He's just really attractive, and he swore he didn't even really like guys this much. Not that he had actually ever been with one or anything.

Dave is toned, and it shows when he swims those laps. It's probably the hottest thing he's seen in a long time.]

[Dave stretched for a bit first. Moving slowly as he stretched out his legs and arms. Dave was pretty flexible from the looks of it and kept himself in shape. What was surprising were the large nicks and scars that adorned his body. Too many for someone his age to have on a whim.

He finally got back to his feet and dived into the pool, starting his laps with just freestyle.]

[Nope, John was trying not to stare. Even tried floating around a bit to relax and there he was. Just swimming and swimming and swimming. Alright, it is definitely time to go.

He swims back to the edge and climbs out. Ensuring he won't trip again and drown himself. Perhaps he could just watch Dave a bit longer while he's drying off.]

[Dave was doing backstroke at this point. Dave kept his eyes closed, and although he was doing laps, he seemed relaxed. Like he was just enjoying himself swimming back and forth in the pool.

He didn't really realize that John was kind of watching him. He was so used to keeping his eye on people that he didn't really realize when the same thing was happening to him.]

[John kind of felt like a creep, worse than the other night when he was watching Dave. But he just couldn't take his eyes off of him. He was toned, gorgeous. What was he supposed to do? Not stare?

John was comfortable enough with himself to say he thought Dave was really attractive.]

[Dave finished up his laps and lifted himself out of the pool to sit on the side. He was talking to the lifeguard on duty. Something about volunteering for CPR classes or something.]

[At which point John has gotten out of the pool, grabbed his stuff and headed back to the locker rooms. Because not only did that cause him to have feelings for the hot lifeguard- it also caused an awkward boner.]

[John. You're so fucking anime. When are you actually gonna talk to Dave again? It's not like he's really noticed you. You're still just another face who frequents the pool to him.]

[Don't judge him. He'll eventually talk to Dave again. John is the most anime dude in that gym, he can't even handle lifeguard Striders abs.

He might try again today. When he doesn't have that awkward boner. He's just sitting on the edge of the pool. It's almost closing time at this point why is he still here.]

Do you just really like the pool?

[Except it's Dave that talks first.] You tend to be here for awhile, even when you don't really swim that much. I can't imagine sitting around turning into a raisin is as interesting as going out partying or something.

[It's John that gets startled in this story then? He does jump a little and look around to set eyes on Dave. He kinda just nods.]

I don't really have much to do besides the gym, and the pool just happens to be one of my favorite places.

[He gets up and walks over to his stuff.] Er, is it closing time then?

[He was being a total pussy.]

You're like in your twenties. You can't tell me you have nothing better to do than sit at a pool all day.

[John seemed like a friendly guy too.] Yeah. We're closing early today because they need to check the pool. We've been getting complaints about the chlorine levels being a little too high so they're going to be seeing what's the problem. If it isn't fixed, the pool won't be open until it gets fixed. Kind of don't need people having hair burned off or turning strange colors from it.

Well, i mean I do other things before I come to the pool. I work out over in your connector gym. Nothing wrong with getting back into shape you know! [But John hadn't cared to notice that he kept coming to the pool earlier and earlier.]

Oh, that's really no problem then. I can totally deal with that. I guess I'll just be hitting the showers and going home then.

[Come on John. Tell him your name. Tell him where you work. Tell him you're not being a flawless dumbass right now because you admire the living fuck out of him. Okay...let's start with a name!]

I noticed that I never did give you my name the day you saved my life. So sorry about that! I'm John Egbert.

I mean a social life. Don't people usually hang out until odd hours of the morning and the what have you. [Which isn't something Dave technically can talk about. He works and doesn't really do that stuff either.]

Dave Strider. Sorry for the slightly homosexual moment to give you CPR. It wasn't a very sexy kiss anyways. [He lets his shades slip on the bridge of his nose, bright red eyes giving John a wink before he starts cleaning up the stuff in the pool.] You know CPR? You've been here so much, I'd recommend it. It's handy to know.

Oh. A social life? Right, no. I don't really outwardly socialize with people. [He has friends. Just, he's always really kept to himself. John goes to work, he goes to the gym, he goes home. His life is pretty repetitive.]

I appreciate the slightly homosexual maneuver. I'm not dead because of it. [John shrugged.] Better than any I've had, well, from what I can remember. I was kind of blacked out.

[He shakes his head.] Is there a class here or something? It would probably be pretty useful since I'm around a lot.

You seemed like the type to always have friends. [That strikes him as weird. John seemed pretty fucking friendly.]

An actual kiss would have blown you right out of the water anyways. [Wow, is he flirting with this guy he barely knows? Oh well.] It's my job to make sure people don't drown.

There's one at the recreational center near here. We do classes once a month. I'm volunteering this month to teach.

Oh, I have friends. I just don't go out a lot. Work and then working out kind of wears a dude out. You know? [He is really friendly, and could be socialable if he wanted to be.]

[This earned an eyebrow raise from John. Was Dave flirting with him right now? He kind of wants to entertain this thought. Like, really he does.] You think so? I mean I've had a couple of good kisses in my life. [Look at his little grin Dave, he is totally indulging your thoughts right now.]

I'll make sure to sign up for one of those, sounds like a useful skill to me.

That's a shame. You seem like you'd be the life of the party. Aren't people supposed to enjoy themselves while they're young or whatever?

[Dave chuckles a bit as he starts cleaning up the stuff in the pool.] That's only because you haven't had a good kiss. You've mistaken what a good kiss actually is.

Well, it's plenty useful. Saved you, so yeah.

[He kind of chuckles.] I've never had someone show me what a good kiss is, so forgive me if I'm mistaken.

You'll find someone who'll blow you away. [Dave needs to stop. John is a stranger and he's on the clock. This wasn't professional at all.]

[John is seriously on the verge of running out. He's kind of blushing.] Nah. I'm not sure if that is really ever going to happen.
