[It was a centuries old rivalry. As cliche as the entire werewolves versus vampires thing sounds, it's always been a thing. Marked lands and certain territories. John had heard stories as a pup about the rivaling clan, their clan leader mysterious as always. Disappearing for months on end, and coming out only when he absolutely had to.

As John grew he became more curious, venturing on the lines as young adult, and going as far as crossing them when he was almost mature. He wanted to take risks, as next in line to be the Alpha dog he needed to know the lines well. He wanted to know the territories.

It's the dead of winter now as John is exploring, sniffing out where the lines diverge and the territories divide. He's crossed into their ground with full knowledge that he is there. Usually as long as he isn't causing any trouble they don't bother him, but their seem to be a pair of watchful eyes on him tonight as he heads into a moonlit clearing.]

[Tonight is one of those nights that Dave is out. He seldom usually surfaces, keeping his operations pretty underground. His networking is spot on, so he knows of his clan and their conditions. The less he has to be social, the better.

It's not that he hates people, but he's been dead (because he's technically not alive) for so long that his interest in social interaction has dwindled. As long as there weren't any trouble, he let his clan do what they want and didn't much keep up with territory dispute other than to intervene when shit was starting to become a nuisance.

But he was hungry and so he was out. Maybe John will smell the strong stench of blood. Dave didn't exactly eat too cleanly.]

[longwinded]

[The stench reaches his strong nose eventually. He stays hunched down, sniffing around the ground and near trees. Where was it. Where was the stench coming from. Vampires were primal in that matter, leaving blood everywhere when they ate. One of them must have just recently made a kill.

Heh.

John growls at the tree that smells the strongest. Who is up there. Yeah, John might be picking a fight here. Who knows.]

Do you all just follow your nose into someone's business all the time?

[Dave was sitting on one of the branches. He's just got a plain dress shirt and slacks on, but the dress shirt has blood on it. Honestly, his entire sleeve is drenched and its probably because that's definitely a hear in his hand.] Last I checked, we don't go harassing any of you when you decide to get food.

[John probably has never seen Dave before. He's tended to stay out of sight.]

[John scrunches his nose, he's the full wolf right now. Large in stature and hunched like he would attack. He lets loose an unrelenting howl. Of course he wants to bother this stranger- he's never seen him before. There were a few others of this clan that he had crossed battles with...none of the exuded such an aura of leadership.

If this is who John thinks it is, he's going to have one hell of a night.

John doesn't really call this harassing either, he calls it.."staking his claim". His territory could use expanding to be honest. Hopefully Dave gets that message. He wants a territorial fight out of him.]

[You can hear the roll of his eyes in the tone of his voice.]Fine. You're honestly going to regret this. [Really. He really hates being disrupted while he was eating. He jumps out of the tree and lands on his feet with ease.

Dave was tall and slender. His hair almost looked white, especially in the moonlight. His eyes were a bright red. He's still got the heart in his hand, and doesn't look like he intends to drop it either.] Well? I'm not gonna wait forever for you to decide that you can actually attack.

[longwinded]

[At least the other was entertaining the thought. The ferocity in his eyes and stature evolve. It's more of a bloodthirst now. He wanted nothing more than to make his father proud of him- if he could stake land for his pack then he would be even more suitable to become the Alpha.

He snarls, pouncing somewhat blindly towards Dave. He's bigger than Dave. His stature is stronger. He's going to pin him and rip his throat out- if he can. This vampire was already annoying. Not dropping that heart to fight him two handed.

What is he, cocky?]

[Dave dodges him with ease and throws a punch straight for John's stomach.

He's allowed to be cocky. Well, probably not. But he knew that John was young and way over his head. He knew that currently, the other was no match. John probably had no idea who he was going up against.] You have no idea who I am, do you?

[longwinded]

[John isn't quite as quick, and he yelps as it's nearly a direct hit. Fuck, he was strong.

He snarls, going headstrong after Dave again. Intent to wound, intent to get that smug look off of Dave's face. He didn't give a fuck who he was, he could be an underling of the clan, he could be the leader. John ould still fight him.]

[Dave's face is actually pretty passive. He honestly just wants to eat and go home. God, he doesn't care about your damn pride of being superior. He just fucking wants to eat and head back before dawn.

Dave decides he'll try and end this quickly. He's quick to go for John's throat and hopefully use his momentum to fling John into the closest tree.]

[longwinded]

[Dawn was two hours away, couldn't Dave fancy this a little longer. John yelps again, flying through the air into a tree and for a moment it does look like he's down. He's winded and he's whining...but that doesn't stop him from getting back up again.

He wouldn't lose. He couldn't. This wasn't what he came here to do. He was intent to beat this vampire as he did some of the others. He hunches for another attack, teeth bared. Another good hit and he probably wouldn't be able to retain his wolf form.

With everything he's got- he lunges again.]

[He isn't sure if John is resilient, stubborn, or just an idiot. Probably a mixture of all three. But he's growing tired of this and he really wants to turn in for the night.

While John lunges at him with all his might, he clenches his free hand into a fist and aims a good punch right at John's jaw.] Just stay-

He slams his fist into John's face.] -down![And that cracking sound isn't from John's jaw. It was definitely from Dave's hand. He really did not give a shit about what injuries he may get if it meant taking this kid down so he can leave. Even if it meant breaking bones on John's face to keep him down.]

[longwinded]

[John was right, it was after that hit that he morphed again. He turns his head- spitting blood. If this asshole thought he was done then he was sorely wrong. His teeth are still bared as if he were still in his wolf form, and he's still primal in the way he brings back his fist to try and bring him down.

Fuck giving up. That isn't what he's about.]

[Dave dodges John's fist. There was no way a kid who wasn't even thinking was gonna get an upper hand when he was completely in his right mind. He broke his hand on John's jaw though so he'll have to resort with some well placed kicks.

He aims a kick at John's side. He was gonna keep beating this kid up until he stopped getting up. Jesus Christ.]

[longwinded]

[It was stupid of him to try. But it was a pride thing. He didn't want to leave here with his pride damaged. He had to get in at least one hit. He's sure at least one of his ribs is broken, if not the entire right side.

It hurts but he gets up again, staggering this time. He's stupid to keep trying.]

You can keep kicking me down. [He laughs dryly.] I'm going to keep getting up.

[Dave lets out a sigh.] Okay, look. I have 0 interest in whatever crap you want to fight me for. This? I just came out to eat. I rather not have to kill you just so I can go home and sleep. I seriously don't.

You are seriously being a damn idiot right now. What do you have to gain from this? You're not going to win. And I'm damn sure that you have more to live then getting yourself killed because you let your pride blind you from thinking proper.

Learn to pick your fights or it'll get you killed. [His eyes narrow.] Unless you want to die right now.

[longwinded]

[John backs away. He hates being talked down to. His Father did it enough when he acted out, he didn't need it from someone else. In that time though, John was lucky that Dave was telling him to back off, it gave his mind time to catch up on his injuries- the ones he had gained in under ten minutes. Embarrassing.]

Don't think this is the last time you'll see me.

[He knows who this is. He knows exactly who he picked a fight with and it was stupid of him to do it. But he wouldn't be a proper werewolf if he didn't challenge.

With that, he morphs again and turns to retreat, looking back only to snarl again. He'll act like it doesn't hurt until he gets away.]

[Dave doesn't seem all that phased by John's thread and even his snarl. Mostly, he just wants to go home. He sinks his teeth into the heart in his hand and starts making the trek back home. Didn't want to be stuck outside when dawn came. That would be terrible.

Hopefully, the kid will forget and leave him alone. He didn't want to deal with a dumb werewolf brat.]

[It'll probably be a few months before John stalks back around. He goes home only to get scolded by his own father. How he had nearly brought shame upon himself and made the feud between the two species worse. John then took off away from his pack to heal, his rebellious streak was because he was young- it was a desire for dominance.

It was well into spring the next time John came roaming around the vampires territory. He's sniffing around for the same guy, not that he's hopeful that he'll find him. He remembers those words from the last time- about him not thinking as clearly as he should have. This time he wouldn't lose. He would trump the other because he actually has somewhat of a battle plan.

[Dave has long since forgotten about John. Months was such a short time to him, but he didn't really think much of their meeting. It didn't leave much of an impact on him as it probably had with John.

He was actually just wandering around. Once in awhile he liked to just stretch his legs and walk around to pass time. He liked to keep himself busy, but it was one of those rare nights he just mulled in his thoughts.

Dave didn't do it often. He wasn't a friendly face for hunters and vampires weren't well liked in general. But he wandered still, stuck in his thoughts.]

[longwinded]

[When he finally spotted that familiar scent it was a better situation for him than he thought. It seemed that the other was lost in his thoughts? He thought vampires didn't mull like that. Hah. Better for him. He could get the upper hand if he pounced while the other wasn't paying attention.

He doesn't waste time.

He plows into Dave, completely blindsiding him.]

[On the upside, vampires can't get the wind knocked out of them on the account that they don't breath. That's convenient, but doesn't help him much when all of John's wait comes straight at him.

He lets out a yelp that quickly becomes a low growl.] What the hell?!

[longwinded]

[John is using his weight to his advantage. He's pretty ferocious now that he kind of has the upper hand here. He knows his strength can trump the other's now that he actually has him pinned down- his claws dig into shoulders and his teeth are bared.

Hello Dave, hi Dave!!!!!]

[Dave is struggling, trying to kick the other off him. He was strong, yes. Being a vampire gifted him inhuman feats, but he wasn't built for strength. He used his speed more so as an advantage.

He ignores the pain shooting through his shoulders, glaring at John.] Get off me!

[longwinded]

[Ha. Kick away. John isn't letting the deter his paws from gripping harder. His teeth still dangerously close to Dave's throat. He has the upper hand here and he could throw this bullshit vampire around by his neck if he wanted to. He might do that if Dave doesn't surrender.

John was getting some kind of power trip from this as well. A young wolf being able to hold down the leader of a clan.]

[God, that would be humiliating. Letting something or someone else prey on his throat. But he honestly doesn't care. This brat with his damn pride going as far as playing underhanded tricks to get the upper hand.]
